Registering for the Lectures

This page provides information about registering for the lecture series. Refer to the Classroom Courses page for information about registering for the fall term's on-campus courses.​

Lecture Series Registration Prerequisites

  • CVEC NIC Membership.

    • You will need to purchase a Comox Valley ElderCollege membership ($25) in order to register for lectures. Purchase a new membership or renew an existing one using one of the traditional NIC CVEC registration methods.

    • When you use any of the methods below to register for the lecture series, a new Society membership will be created for you in the Society's new registration system. To avoid doubling-up membership fees for our members, the Society's memberships will come at no cost.

  • Credit card (cash, cheque, or e-transfer payments are not accepted).

Registration Methods

There are three ways to register for the fall lecture series: online, in person, and by phone.​

ONLINE

Registering online is the best method to register for the lecture series. It will take less time than registering either in person or by phone.

 

NOTE: This CVEC Society online registration system is completely separate and different than the NIC online registration system.

  • Will require setting up new account in the Society's registration service (Amilia).

  • An individual can register others (e.g. spouses) in addition to themselves, on one account. However, if each person wants their own registration access and record keeping, each person should create a separate account and register separately as well.

  • Guidance documents and videos.

IN PERSON

The in-person option will only be available from 9 am to noon when the fall term registration opens on Tuesday, September 22.

  • The in-person registration location will be in the Discovery Building on the Comox Valley campus of North Island College (NIC)  (see location).

  • Visit the library and be directed to the room where CVEC Society volunteers will be ready to receive you. They will help you create your account, select the lecture(s) you want to attend, and take you through the payment process.

  • Registration volunteers will be using the online registration process – so you’ll get to see how that works as well.

PHONE

  • Prior to the Tuesday, September 22 registration date, the CVEC Society will publish a number to call for registering over the phone (do not use the NIC phone number).

  • The CVEC Society phone number will go directly to voicemail

    • Leave your name, phone number, and a message that you would like to register.

  • A CVEC Society volunteer will call you back and, while speaking with you, will create your Society registration account, select the lecture(s) you want to attend, and take your payment information.
